How Prime Reach launched a two-sided rental marketplace

Prime Reach needed one platform for renters and car hosts. Bytecode built a custom Laravel marketplace with booking, onboarding and an installable web app experience.

Prime Reach, a car rental and delivery marketplace based in Dallas, Texas, needed one product for two different user groups: renters looking for a fast way to book a car, and independent hosts who want to list their vehicles. Bytecode built the platform as a custom Laravel application with a Vite-built front end and an installable web app experience. The live platform is at goprimereach.com.

The challenge

Prime Reach was not a simple marketing site or a single-purpose booking form. It needed to support a marketplace model, where the renter experience and the host experience are both core to the product.

For renters, the product had to make discovery and booking feel direct. A renter needs to search by location, choose dates and times, review available vehicles, book, then either pick up the car or request delivery. That flow has to be clear enough for a first-time user and structured enough to support repeat use.

For hosts, the product had to make listing a vehicle understandable. Hosts need a path to add a car, complete verification, define their terms and manage their participation in the marketplace. That side of the platform could not be treated as an afterthought, because supply quality depends on host onboarding being clear.

The platform also needed supporting trust content. For a rental marketplace, users need easy access to help, frequently asked questions, insurance and protection information, cancellation policy details, and trust and safety content. These pages are part of the product experience, not just static content sitting around the edge.

The technical challenge was to bring those pieces together in one custom application instead of forcing the marketplace into a generic template. Prime Reach needed account flows, search, booking, notifications, content pages and an app-like experience that could continue to evolve.

What we did

Bytecode built Prime Reach as a custom Laravel application using PHP, with a Vite-built front end. Laravel gave the platform a structured back end for accounts, marketplace flows and application logic, while the front end supported a responsive user experience across the rental journey.

This was a custom application development project rather than a theme build. The work centered on building product behavior around the way Prime Reach operates: renters search and book cars, while hosts onboard and manage listings.

The implementation included the main renter journey:

  • Location-based search: renters can search by location and use their current location.
  • Date and time selection: the booking flow includes date and time pickers for rental planning.
  • Vehicle catalog: users can browse available vehicles in a structured catalog experience.
  • Instant booking: the platform supports a direct booking path after the renter selects a vehicle.
  • Four-step renter flow: search, book, pick up or request delivery, then drive and rate.

We also built the host-side flow, so independent car owners have a defined path into the marketplace. The host onboarding experience includes listing a car, completing verification, setting terms and getting started as a host.

Because this is a two-sided marketplace, account functionality was also part of the foundation. Prime Reach includes renter and host accounts, sign-in and in-app notifications. Those features help separate user roles while keeping the experience inside one platform.

The platform was also built as an installable web app experience. Users can add it to their home screen, giving the product a more app-like entry point without requiring a separate native app release. For businesses considering this kind of approach, it sits in the space between web product development and mobile app development: the experience is delivered through the web, but designed to be easier to return to from a device.

We added light and dark themes so the interface can support different user preferences. We also implemented core support and policy pages, including a help center, FAQ, insurance and protection pages, cancellation policy content, trust and safety pages and an affiliate program page.

In practical terms, the project required building both transactional product features and the surrounding content structure that helps users understand the marketplace. Search and booking are only one part of the experience. A marketplace also needs onboarding, policy clarity and trust signals built into the application.

The results

Prime Reach now has a custom Laravel platform that serves both sides of its car rental and delivery marketplace. Renters can search, review available vehicles, book and choose pickup or delivery. Hosts can move through onboarding, verification and listing setup.

  • One platform for two user groups: renters and hosts have dedicated flows inside the same application.
  • Custom booking experience: the renter journey supports location search, date and time selection, instant booking, pickup or delivery, and post-drive rating.
  • Host onboarding: independent car owners can list vehicles, complete verification and set their terms.
  • Installable web app: users can add the platform to their home screen for a more app-like experience.
  • Account-based experience: renter and host accounts, sign-in and in-app notifications are part of the product.
  • Trust and support content: help, FAQ, insurance and protection, cancellation policy, trust and safety, and affiliate pages are built into the site structure.
  • Theme support: the application includes light and dark themes.

The result is a marketplace platform that is specific to Prime Reach’s operating model. It does not rely on a one-size-fits-all booking pattern. The application is structured around the real steps users need to take, from search through booking and from host onboarding through listing setup.

What this means for your store

If your business has two or more user types, generic web patterns usually break down quickly. A custom Laravel application can give each user group the right flow while keeping the product unified, account-based and ready to grow as the marketplace model becomes more complex.
