Saint Samson Parfums is a DTC brand selling luxury, alcohol-free parfum oils in the US. The brand needed a premium Shopify storefront that could explain a product shoppers cannot smell online and help them choose a scent with more confidence. The live store is at saintsamsonparfums.com, with a shopping experience built around scent education, guided discovery, and a clear path to cart.

The challenge

Fragrance is a difficult category to sell online because the most important part of the product cannot be experienced through the screen. A shopper can see packaging, read a product name, and review a description, but they still need help understanding what the scent may feel like in daily use.

Saint Samson Parfums also needed to present itself as a luxury DTC brand from the first visit. The storefront had to feel editorial and premium, while still giving shoppers practical ways to browse, compare, and decide. A beautiful page alone would not be enough. The store needed to explain the product category and support different buying behaviors.

Some shoppers arrive with a clear preference. Others are buying a gift. Others may be deciding between men’s, women’s, and unisex fragrances. Some want a best seller. Some need an entry point before committing to a scent. The Shopify build had to support all of those paths without making the experience feel crowded.

What we did

Bytecode built the Saint Samson Parfums Shopify store with a custom storefront experience focused on education, browsing, and purchase flow. This was a Shopify development and Shopify theme development project shaped around how customers evaluate fragrance online.

The store gives shoppers multiple ways to understand the products. Product notes are shown as scent profiles, so the fragrance information is easier to scan and compare. Instead of relying only on long descriptions, the site breaks the decision into clearer signals: notes, occasions, collections, and guided discovery.

  • Luxury editorial home page: The home page introduces the brand with a premium presentation and structured product discovery.
  • Collection carousel: Shoppers can browse featured collections directly from the home page without needing to start from a full collection grid.
  • Scent profiles: Product notes are presented in a way that helps shoppers understand the character of each parfum oil.
  • Occasion-based shopping: The store includes sections for office, date night, weddings, everyday use, and gifting.
  • Find Your Fragrance guide: Undecided shoppers have a dedicated path to narrow their options.
  • Discovery Set: The site gives shoppers a way to explore the line before choosing individual fragrances.
  • Collection architecture: The store includes collection pages for men’s fragrances, women’s fragrances, unisex fragrances, and best sellers.
  • Brand and support pages: Brand story and concierge pages give the shopper more context beyond the product grid.
  • Product reviews: Reviews are included to support evaluation on product pages.
  • Slide-out cart: Shoppers can review the cart without leaving the current shopping flow.
  • Free-shipping threshold banner: The cart experience communicates shipping progress while shoppers build their order.
  • Policy pages: Required store policies are present so shoppers can find basic purchase information.

The key decision was to treat scent selection as part of the storefront design, not as an afterthought. A fragrance store cannot depend only on product photos and add-to-cart buttons. The site has to translate scent into a set of choices the shopper can understand.

That is why the store includes both structured navigation and softer discovery paths. A shopper who knows they want a unisex fragrance can go straight to that collection. A shopper buying for a wedding, date night, the office, everyday use, or gifting can browse by occasion. A shopper who is unsure can use the Find Your Fragrance guide or start with the Discovery Set.

The results

The result is a live Shopify storefront that gives Saint Samson Parfums a premium DTC presence and a more useful way to sell fragrance online. The store does not ask shoppers to guess from a product image alone. It gives them multiple routes into the catalog and more context for each scent.

  • Saint Samson Parfums has a premium Shopify storefront built for a luxury, alcohol-free parfum oil brand.
  • Shoppers can browse by scent profile, occasion, men’s fragrances, women’s fragrances, unisex fragrances, and best sellers.
  • Undecided shoppers have guided discovery through the Find Your Fragrance guide and the Discovery Set.
  • The home page supports editorial brand storytelling while still directing shoppers into collections and products.
  • The shopping flow includes product reviews, a slide-out cart, and a free-shipping threshold banner.
  • Brand story, concierge, and policy pages give the store supporting content beyond product listings.

No performance numbers were provided for this case study, so the outcome is best described by the shipped experience: a Shopify store that explains scent, supports discovery, and gives a new DTC fragrance brand a polished storefront for selling online.

What this means for your store

If your product is hard to evaluate online, your storefront needs to do more than look good. Build the theme around how customers decide: what they need to understand, how they compare options, what paths they use to browse, and what support they need before adding to cart.
